The three-phase flow of oil, gas and water is a very common phenomenon in the petroleum industry. In the output materials of the well there are oil and gas, also accompanied by water, sand, wax and other substances. Oil and gas production changes as a result of the location of oil wells and the different stages of development, so measurement device of multiphase flow for oil and gas production in wells has very important significance for crude oil development. However, in the process of crude oil extraction, the content of oil, gas and water, composition and flow rate is usually between a non-linear, uncertain of the complex relationship; so a practicable, available and precise multi-phase flow method is needed.In this paper, the working principle of the combination measurement system has been stated detail by detail in view of the situations of existing methods, based on the meter measurement system combined with gas-liquid separator, moisture analyzer, density and total plate as on-site field simulation, a lot of experiments have been done on this measurement system as the experiment platform. A new method has been described which is based on a density law Empirical formula with a combination of neural network measurement of the smart way.Select and collect the important experimental data as the characteristic indicators of neural networks, combined with the calculating results by the density formula, constitute the neural network study &test samples. Do the training and simulating with the sample data in neural network toolbox of MATLAB7.1 application environment until finding a neural network model with better abilities of generalization and the convergence rate.Experiments have proved that the multi-phase flow measurement system based on this method can realize the measurement of phase and velocity flow of the multi-phase flow (oil, gas & water), the new method overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional instruments to rely on empirical formula of inaccurate measurement, the complex calculation of neural networks and perfect substitute of mathematical models, and so on, also has many advantages, such as small volume, no radioactivity, low cost and so on. The measuring system is fully respecting the direction of multi-phase flow meter in the future.
