Zinc-bromine redox flow battery is a novel, a low energy consumping, environmentally friendly energy storage device, which has high energy density and current efficiency, simple device, long life, and 100% the depth of discharge thousands of times etc. advantages. And it is mainly used in power peaking, wind power, regional power supply, electric vehicles, etc.One of the problems of affecting the efficiency of Zinc-bromine redox battery is zinc dendrite. The impact of zinc dendrites mainly of factors of electrochemical polarization, solution mass transfer conditions, the concentration of zinc ions, solution pH, etc. This paper discussed the solution at different pH, electrolyte concentrations and current density of zinc dendrite formation, and optimized experimental conditions. The optimum conditions for zinc deposition are as follows: the pH value of the solution is 4, the current density is 30 mA/cm-2, the concentration of quaternary ammonium salt is 1 mol/L and the higher concentration of Zn2+. The paper also compared the different electrode characteristics by cyclic voltammetry, the different conditions of cathodic polarization curves and calculated the kinetic parameters of electrode.
