Now modern technology is everywhere, and modern buildings are row upon row. people living in the forest of cement buildings, however, compared with the morden cities, the ancient cities are distinctive, which embodies a kind of oriental culture, that is why the western architects, planners gave the old town of Lijiang a very highly respect.Ancient China has a long history and deep culture. With the development of ancient society, Confucianism, Feng Shui ideas gradually became the spiritual needs of the rulers ruling, the most important is its impact on urban construction.Confucianism advocates "ceremony" and the "Doctrine of the Mean", in this thinking, China's ancient cities especially the cpapitals, pay attention to the central axis of the bearing arrangement, symmetricalness, three square cities. Straight symbols powerful, the urban roads should in regular pattern and the latitude and longitude should be clear. Even the bulidings' color, shape and so are the embodiment of Confucian ideas. Under this comprehensive etiquette, the ancient cities in China reflect a neat rhythm, the general character of the city is prominent.Feng Shui is an Integrated Science of the ancient China, whose location thinking with our current scientific methods to analyze, we can see it has a scientific nature everywhere, which is the results of the ancient working people's long-term observation of the nature of our country. Layout in the city, "Yin Yang"and"element" in Feng shui are used in urban construction, which reflects the beauty of harmonious. At the same time, combined with divination of Yi, to explain with mathematics and sciences, the urban layout is full of mysterious.Harmony between man and nature is the essence of ancient Chinese philosophy which encourage people to unit with heaven and earth, be obedient to nature, and to correspond with nature, that reflects a harmony of heaven and earth. In this thinking's influence, the symbolism layout method represented by the fllow nature and performance on the earth method is widely used in the layout of urban construction. In capital construction, the palace should be correspond with Purple Forbidden Enlosure, to performance the thinking of divine Monarchical power.Based on the above treatise, to analyze these ideas, this paper choose Chang'an and Beijing the two thousand years old capital as an example to analyze its scientificalness and artistry. In the latter part of this paper ,combined with personal involvement in the project, the author displays the using of ancient Chinese culture in modern urban planning.
