Non-direct grounded neutral system has been widely used in low and mediumvoltage distribution system in our country. Feeder fault location has been a difficultproblem in the study of fault location because of its complicated structure and thespecial nature of single-phase to ground fault under this operation mode. There arealmost no automated feeder fault location devices, searching by segments is alsoadoptedwidelyto identifythefault point.Alongwiththeadvancement of DAandtheuserrequirements forthe improvement ofpowersupplyreliability, ontheonehand,itis possible to achieve a precise fault location, on the other hand, it's urgent to explorenewtheoreticalmethods toachievehigh-precisionfaultlocationtoimprovethepowersupplyreliability.Synergetics is a burgeoning science. It is a science which studies of the systemawayfromequilibriumthroughtheself-organizationofthevarioussubsystemstogivebirth to temporal, special or functional structure. Synergetics described the system'sbehaviors when the system was near the critical point and presented slaving principleand order parameter theory. It considered that the system's evolution was controlledby order parameters. The final structure and orderly degree of the system's evolutionwere depended on order parameters. The major study subject is non-equilibriumsystem under phase transition, and the critical power system is properly in line withtheconditions.Ascheme of fault location based on synergetics for single-phase-to-ground faultinnon-directgroundedneutralsystemisproposedinthispaper.Analyzingthefaultbyuse of slaving principle in synergetics, the equation set describing the fault had beenmapped into simple one byadiabatic approximation; the order-parameter was derivedin critical state. Regarding the fault location as the operation in a kinetic system oforder-parameter,andbymeansofresearchingtheevolutionofexperimentalsampleinkinetic system the structure and state of the sample are judged, so the fault can belocated. Results of ATP simulation show that the proposed method is feasible andpossess good anti-interference feature. The researchis illuminatingfor the applicationofsynergeticsinpowersystem.
