A control system for a ring gate disposed in a hydraulic turbine installation is the most important device for the ring gate. The control system includes a set of actuators to lift the ring gate and thereby ease maintenance. To lift the ring gate safely, a method of controlling and synchronizing the actuators is researched in this paper. Now, the functions and performances of the equipment are verified by engineering applications. The main contents of this dissertation are listed as follows:(1) The structure and the function of ring gate are investigated. The ring gate is composed by three parts: the body of the ring gate, the operating mechanism, the synchronizing mechanism. The body is used to shut-off the water flow. Hydraulic motors and hydraulic cylinders are two different operating mechanisms. For different operating mechanism, there are different synchronizing method。(2) To ensure the synchronization of actuators, a new method composed by mechanical control systems and electrical control systems is adopted. For the characteristic of movement of the ring gate, the hydraulic control system is divided into different sections according to function itself: the pump-pressure jar system, the synchronizing loop, the balance loop and the regulating loop of velocity. Design hydraulic manifold block for the integrated hydraulic system.(3) To obtain many important parameters of hydraulic system, a great many of computation is done. According to the data, actuators are designed and electromotor, pump, valves are chosen. To ensure the safety of the system, some checking computations about the capability of system is made.(4) Turbine is composed by spiral case, stay vanes, ring gate, wicket gates, runner and draft tube liner. With the gambit software, the whole passage model of turbine is founded and the simulation based on the model is made with fluent software. The result of simulation will disclose the change of velocity and pressure of fluid when ring gate is self-closing.
