Magnesium fuel cell has many advantages,such as high specific energy, convenience and safe using,low cost,easy transport of the fuel,used in large temperature sphere and non-pollution.As one of high energy chemical power sources,it can be widely used in mobile electronic facilities,AUV,apparatus of ocean submarine and sources of preemergency.But in the electrolyte solution,the Magnesium alloys acted as negative pole of the battery request overcome some questions,such as large rate of the self-erosion,lower utilization ratio of anode material,anode polarization,potential lagging,declining of the electrochemical activity and so on.Therefore it is necessary to research on the new materials of Magnesium alloy and addictives to the electrolyte.In the article,Magnesium and Magnesium alloys investigated of the discharge properties and self-erosion by liner sweep voltammetry,Tafel Plot,A.C. impedance and scanning electric microscopy,compared the properties of some new kinds of Mg-Li alloys and researched on the influence of the additive Ga2O3 to the properties of alloys.The electrochemical properties of pure Magnesium in the alkali solution were conducted:the results showed that pure Magnesium in the solution of KOH had low activity of electrooxidation and the oxidation current density was only 0.032mA·cm-2,as cathode material,pure Magnesium was't suited to using in alkali solution.When pure Magnesium had higher oxidation activity in the solution of 0.7mol/L NaCl than in the alkali solution,the oxidation current density was 27mA·cm-2.Therefore pure Magnesium in the solution NaCl had better electrochemical properties.The researches on another four Magnesium alloys were conducted,found that the current density of corrosion of commerde AZ31 was 144.684μA·cm-2, lower than the pure Magnesium and other Mg-Li alloys,but the activity of electrooxidation of AZ31 was bad and the oxidation current density was 33 mA·cm-2,lower than other alloys.When the content of Ce in the Mg-Li alloys was 1%,the current density of corrosion of the 1# alloy was lower than other alloys.1# alloy had good activity of electrooxidation.It indicated that Ce can improve the corrosion-resistant of the alloys,and the optimum content was 1%.When Ga2O3 was added,the electrochemical properties of pure Magnesium and four Magnesium alloys were conducted,the results showed that the activity of electrooxidation had improved to some content,the oxidation current density added 2~4μA·cm-2.After added Ga2O3 in the 1# Mg-Li alloy which without Ce, the current density of corrosion was from above 200μA·cm-2 down to below 100μA·cm-2.It indicated that Ga2O3 can not only improve the activity of electrooxidation but also strength the corrosion-resistant.But it had not the same role to the alloy of Ce.
