Intake Swirl,a velocity field distortion,may be observed in any modern aircraft intlet exit.There are two basic types of intake swirl:bulk swirl and twin swirl.Both of them would do harm to the stabilization of engine and even induce engine surge or fan vibration.The simulated theory of Intake Swirl is provided in this paper,which is based on the linear addition,the irrational vortex theory and the predigestion of true Intake Swirl.In addition,the equipment of Intake Swirl simulation is designed,which can simulate essential type of Intake Swirl in Ma <0.5.The numerical and experimental results indicated that:(1)The simulated theory of Intake Swirl can help men to hold the general picture in advance of experiment,but it can't forecast some complex swirl.(2)On the basis of simulated experiment of standard bulk swirl,double diameter of inner conduit is choosen to being optimal length of swirl development,and the attack of the vane has evident influence on intensity of the swirl,with the attack of the vane increased,intensity increases evidently with linear addition.On the basis of simulative experiment of unstandard bulk swirl and twin swirl,the central position of the swirl picture is found changing to some extent,maybe it is decided by the most intense swirl of the swirl picture.(3)The numerical result shows that essential Intake Swirl can be simulated by CFD.the change of the central position of the swirl picture can be taken,and the numerical result is close to the experimental result.It shown that the numerical simulation can help men to hold the swirl picture before the experiment.
