Most of hull plates are double-curved complex surface. Plane steel plates will be processed to be designed surface by line-heating process. At the present time, hull plates' automatic line-heating process is mainly concerned in the field of small curvature and large-scaled curved plates. The majority of these plates are amidships or near to the bow and stem. Because of its small curvature and large size, distance between the heating lines is always disposed to be a long space. Thus, proper simplification can be adopted in the study. Meanwhile, some secondary factors can be ignored. The accuracy reaches the requirement of engineering application. But study is so difficult in the line-heating process for the outer plates of the bow and stem because of its large curvature and size. The heating lines must be deposed to be much more densely even cross in the case. The consideration of influencing factors and analysis of deformation law will be much more complex. The line-heating process of bow and stem steel plate is taken as research object in the paper. FEA simulation and experiment are used in the double-curved transient numerical simulation of line-heating process. Study is concerned in the three major deformation influencing parameters in the process of bow and stem steel plates: distance from heating line to the edge of plate, distance between heating lines, and chordwise curvature radius of plate. Then the results are proved to be reliable by the experiment of typical case.Deformation law got from FEA method and experiment meets well and it has important guiding significance to automatic line-heating process for bow and stem plates.
