In order to study the nature lighting phenomenon deeply, a similar lighting discharging system formed on the earth was expected. Because the thunder cloud is a large area electrostatic cloud in nature, the starting point of this paper is considering forming simulation thunder cloud in laboratory according to the electrostatic charging theory, and the key point is to study the charging method of forming manually simulation thunder cloud, while the aim of the research is to find the most suitable charging method.In this paper, several methods and theories of water mist is analyzed first. After a general comparing, the induction charging and corona charging method of water mist to form suspended charged aerosol cloud is chosen as the research object. The two charging method is calculated, designed and tested independent, with which the max drawing current are obtained. Under the max current condition, the discharge between water mist suspended charged particle cloud to earth is experimented, which turned out that it is difficult to form simulation thunder cloud in laboratory with water mist charging method.After that, the sprayed water vapor corona charging method is used to form simulation thunder cloud with a laval nozzle. Based on the analysis and experiment, the influence of the environment, the humidity, the vapor pressure, the voltage, the position of discharging pin and voltage waveform to drawing current of charged particle generator is acquired, and the most suitable value in each influence condition of the generator is succeeded to obtain. After compared three laval nozzles which designed and made by ourselves in experiment, the nozzle of diameter of 4mm in throat is confirmed to be having the max drawing current.Under the condition of max drawing current of 61μA, the shape of the vapor simulation thunder cloud is researched deeply, and the discharge between simulation thunder cloud and earth is realized at last. Though the discharge channel is not very long( about 2mm), the discharge waveform is analogous as nature lighting discharging waveform.The result turned out that the vapor corona charging is a effective charging method. It has possibility and many advantages to realize simulation thunder cloud. The study made a stable base for the further research.
