On the background of energy crisis and pollution, Research on Electric Vehicle is very popular. Our country has spend a lot of money and manpower on it. Transverse-Flux Permanent Magnet Machine (TFPMM) is a new type of machines with special magnetic topology developed in recent years. And TFPMM has high efficiency and high torque density which makes it suitable for the low speed and high torque application. The purpose of this thesis is to design an In-Wheel motor for EV base on a novel axial magnetized TFPMM. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:1. Background, meaning and advantages of the research.2. An overview on TFPMM, including operation principle, structure, topologies, equivalent circuit, present research and developing, disadvantages, etc.3. Study on magnet field of TFPMM by use of ANSYS. No-load operation, magnetizing curve, flux leakage coefficient, additional air gap and the influences of different dimensions on flux are calculated.4. Mechanical design and manufacture of a new TFPMM prototype.5. Experimental test and analysis of the TFPMM. Tested data of the TFPMM such as no-load, loaded, Generator and synchronous motor are all obtained, and analyzed to evaluate performance the of TFPMM in detail.6. Modeling and simulating of TFPMM using Matlab/Simulink. In this way, the efficiency curve of TFPMM is drawn out by taking into account of the influence of the asymmetry EMF and the friction between the rotor and stator.Finally, we tempt to give a modified design proposal of TFPMM base on the results mentioned above.
