When seismic shaking table works, it generates large forces across a wide arrange of frequency, which will inevitably cause the supporting foundation to resonate. This will do great harm to the buildings and facilities nearby. Therefore, before the seismic shaking table is built, the vibration of the foundation must be correctly predicted to control the damage and ensure the safety of surrounding buildings.Firstly, a simple view was given of lumped parameter method for dynamic machine foundation's analysis. Then, three commonly used lumped parameter methods were introduced in detail, they are Lysmer matching method, the one introduced by the Specification for Dynamic Foundation Design and the one introduced in the Foundation Engineering Handbook. After comparing these three methods with a typical seismic shakingtable foundation, the method introduced in Foundation Engineering Handbook was found out to be the most reliable one and has the highest accurace. Then, based on this method, the whole designing procedure for seismic shaking table foundations was brought out.Secondly, this thesis tried to handle shaking table foundation with numerical methods. A comparation was made between numerical method and lunmped parameter method, using the same assumptions, the same parameters and analysis type. Results showed that these two methods have great consistency, then, the reliability of numerical methods was proved. More analysis was made on parameter studies of numerical methods, and advices were given on how to use such kind of method.Finally, a special kind of seismic shaking table foundation was analyzed using numerical method. This kind of shaking table is built on the current foundation of structural experiment hall. This thesis studied on what requisites are needed to build such a shaking table and the proper location to put it in the hall.
