The Study On Strategic Choice Of Traffic Signal Control

With the accelerating of the process of urbanization, urban traffic problems have become a common problem of many cities. The intersection plays an important role in the road network and traffic flow. How to make full use of the existing traffic resources, how to choose traffic control strategic through scientific and rational means, how to maximize the traffic ability of the signal, and how to reduce the delay time have been important research topics of traffic field. Traffic signal control is the most effective way among the traffic control methods.This dissertation is directed by the strategic choice in traffic control system, focuses on the traffic signal control, sets an instance to prove it, and integrates it with the intelligent signals embedded software systems, finally forms a theory on strategic choice of traffic signal control.Firstly, this dissertation summarizes a brief overview of urban traffic signal control system, points out that the control management of intersection is an important measure to guarantee the traffic safe and full use of the capacity, the traffic signal control is the main aspect of intersection control.Secondly, the dissertation presents the basic theory of traffic signal control, focuses on the basic parameters, traffic flow characterization parameters and evaluation parameters in the traffic signal control, sums up several typical systems. Thirdly, the dissertation puts forward the strategic choice in traffic control system, gives out the definition and content, analyzes its necessity and point out three common strategic choices in traffic control, each discusses the different requirements of the strategic choice in detail.Fourthly, the dissertation focuses on the strategic choice of a single-intersection signal control; analyzes the distinctions between two classic signal control means and proves an instance, then proposes the strategic means of selection of traffic signal control based on flow ratio, and depicts the strategic choice reference map. Finally, the dissertation presents the embedded Linux intelligent signal machine based on the ARM, analyzes its hardware and software systems and studies the combination of the strategic choice and system software.
