In this paper we studied solid-phase synthesis technology of strontium barium niobate ceramic to determine the conditions for optimal performance, preparation of micro-structure and dielectric properties in a wide range of contents (X = 0.3 0.9). The relationship between micro structures and dielectric properties, relaxation properties and phase change characteristics of the tungsten bronze structure were also studied, which would lead to the wider use of this piezoelectric ceramic and provide the necessary theoretical basis.Tungsten bronze ceramic (Sr1-xBax)Nb2O6 (abbreviated for SBN,X= 0.30.9) was synthesized from oxides and carbonates by conventional solid state reaction。The preparation processing of electro-ceramics has been expatiated systemically. With the result of microstructure analyzing by SEM, the influence of calcining temperature, sintering temperature and Ba content on dielectric properties was carefully investingated. We also studied the dielectric contant and loss reponse of SBN cremics as a function of frequency. Strontium barium niobate is a typical relaxor ferroelectric. And the diffuse dielectric peak will shift to higher temperature with increasing Ba content. As the dielectric response of SBN ceramics above Curie temperature is coherent to the Curie-Weiss Law, the relaxation feature is different from that of complex perovskite compounds.
