As the main tools of the modern test and measurement, the measuring instruments play an irreplaceable position, weather in scientific research or industrial production. With the development of the technology and manufacturing, people experience with the precise and highly effective test and measurement environment brought by measuring instruments, meanwhile, they also found there are lots of factors that don't meet their behavior and cognitive psychology of the instruments'interfaces. Therefore it is meaningful to improve the design of the measuring instruments'interfaces. This thesis focuses on the display interface of the measuring instrument. With cognitive psychology and user research as the guiding ideology, the thesis establishes the scientific user models, sums up the design principles of the measuring instrument's display interface. The tasks of this project are as following: Firstly, the knowledge of the manufacture is obtained through reference in the library and network. Secondly, the information of design is obtained through the survey. Thirdly, the ways of interface development are put forward based on psychology and user research. Fourthly, questionnaire is designed based on the analyzing interviews, according to the requirements and current situation of users. Fifthly, the statistic result of the questionnaire is analyzed. Sixthly, users'operating habits and error models are obtained through watching the users'operation. Seventhly, model is established, including task modeling and mental modeling. Eighthly, sum up the design principles of the measuring instrument's display interface. Ninthly, Interface prototypes are designed and realized as the instances.
