As a new type of composite material, Reactive Powder Concrete is of more excellent mechanical properties and performance than normal concrete and the high-strength concrete; this paper will mainly make the research and study on the seismic performance in the case that RPC is used in highway piers with thin-wall hollow.Based on the existing design method of china standard of highway PC bridge, and with utilization of good mechanical properties of RPC , instead of normal concrete, RPC200, is used in highway piers with thin-wall hollow, and then dynamic numerical models using ANSYS are established, finally the response spectrum analysis and dynamic time-history analysis of the structure are carried out. At the same time, 10 seismic waves of three different sites were selected; the characteristics and laws of RPC pier seismic response with time-history analysis of earthquake response are summarized in this paper. Comparison and analysis with normal concrete are also carried out; the results can be reference to for engineering RPC application.The result show that, considering the role of foundation spring, the foundation spring will be involved in the upper structure, which reduce the level of stiffness, the natural frequency of structure are reduced. Pier A and B can meet the intensity and rigidity of the requirements under the condition of frequent earthquake, and the structure remains the elastic state. The maximum of non-linear displacement ductility ratio mean along the pier direction appears at the bottom of the pier in the longitudinal direction of the bridge under seismic action. The curve of non-linear displacement ductility ratio mean is a W-shape curve in the transverse direction, the maximum mean of non-linear displacement ductility ratio along the pier direction appears at the bottom or top section of the pier in transverse direction, and the second plastic hinge probably appear in the range of 25-27 meters section. The comparison between RPC pier and normal concrete pier fully prove that the RPC material have good seismic performance.
