In recent years, among the mountain road traffic accidents, the absolute number of traffic accidents is very few, but the accident mortality rate is much high than that occurs on the plain road and urban roads. while traveling on long downhill mountains, The hot recession of braking system of Vehicle is an important cause of traffic accidents in mountain. How to ensure the security during the vehicle traveling in downhill continuously is an urgent problem. Aiming at this issue, the theoretical and experimental research on temperature rising during the vehicle traveling in downhill continuously is done in the paper . Its research has provided a theoretical basis for the vehicle safety traveling during consecutive downhill, and it has laid a good foundation for further study on the vehicles traveling on downhill safely.In order to make the findings universal significant and representative, the research model is determined through the survey to the actual road speed; Take the drum brake of the typical vehicle as research object to analyze the characteristic of temperature rising; Based on the analysis ,the road test of the characteristic of temperature rising is studied, and the relation model between brake temperature rising and the state of vehicle loading, the gradient of the road, the length of gradient, and speed is built; By use of the relationship model of brake temperature rising , the relations between highway engineering standards gradient and the length of gradient are analyzed about temperature rising, and utmost of the road gradient, the length of gradient that ensures safety traveling is confirmed. The capability of traveling on the downhill of the vehicle under overloading is analyzed quantitatively by the use of model of brake temperature rising.Its research has provided a theoretical basis for the vehicle safety traveling during consecutive downhill, and it has laid a good foundation for further study on the vehicles traveling on downhill safely.
