In order to enable the nuclear power plant fault diagnosis system to have a well performance, not only are various diagnosis methods which are suitable to the characteristic of nuclear power plant studied, but the phenomena and mechanism of faults need to be deeply researched and analyzed. All these require a great number of fault data and related knowledge which is used to operate different types of faults. Due to absence of historical fault data and high cost of experimental equipment, fault data source becomes a problem in the NPP diagnosis technology. Two methods have been given to solve the data platform of fault diagnosis in this paper, which are the modular modeling and Thermal-Hydraulic software (RELAP5). Through studying the two methods and comparing difficulties in their implementation, the RELAP5 is finally chosen and used to establish the model of primary circuit and secondary circuit for NPP. Taking Qinshan Unit 1 as an object, a series of faults including the steam generator U-tube rupture, the flux of steam increase caused by fault, the flux of feed water decrease caused by fault are simulated based on the data platform. The results indicate that the simulation node of Qinshan NPP Unit 1 is reasonable, the data input card is exact, and the results of RELAP5 calculation are correct. The designed data platform combining with fault diagnosis system has been debugged. The results show that the data platform can be one of database for research on fault diagnosis of NPP.
