The Revelation Of Chinese Landscape Painting On The Contemporary Landscape Design

China has seen dramatic changes in her Politics, Economics and Culture in the recent century. At the same time, China's Landscape Design is developing too, forming its own theoretical system. While the West is amazed by the charm of our ancient oriental design, we are losing our uniqueness by following the steps of the West. It is imperative to achieve the harmony between human and environment via consistent adjustment in modern Landscape Design. Actually, such idea has already been appreciated in Traditional Chinese Landscape Painting, a well-known ancient art form. Our understanding of Landscape Design will be furthered through the study of Chinese Landscape Painting. As contemporary landscape designer, we will also be inspired by this ancient art form. Therefore, it is theoretically and practically important to study the revelation of Chinese Landscape Painting on the contemporary Landscape Design. In this article, this topic is discussed through five different parts: the viewpoint of nature art, the artistic conception, the creation method, the composition of a picture and the space management. We hope to utilize what we have learnt from our Landscape Painting into modern Landscape Design and ultimately, to establish the modern Landscape Design theory of Chinese characteristics.
