With the development of power electronic and motion control technology, the starter system which is made of induction machine and power electronic converter can be realized. Using induction starter system as power supply system in plane, automobile, tank and steamship is becoming a new international research area.The thesis introduces the history, actuality and development trend of the starter, and analyzes the problems existing in the starter. It points out that this research on induction starter of dynamical system is of practical significance. The power electronics inverter of controlling set is the key component of induction starter. So this paper firstly analyzes the limitation of the traditional voltage-source inverter and Z-source inverter, and interpreted the operating principle of the novel L-Source inverter as well as the advantages of using it in starter. By using energy-storage inductance and the zero-vector making the upper and lower bridge shoot-through simultaneously which doesn't exist in traditional inverter, L-Source inverter achieves the aim of voltage promotion and solves the problem of voltage sag when battery is discharging in large current. After analyzing several sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) control methods, it gets several methods of voltage promotion applied to L-Source inverter by controlling shoot-through duty cycle based on L-Source working characters, then it gives the simulation results. This paper also introduces the scheme of hardware platform of controlling system based on MC56F8346 DSP, peripheral circuit and the main circuit in detail. Then it gives the design methods of software as well as the experimental research of principle prototype. The results of simulation and experiment illustrate the working validity of L-source inverter. At last, it gives the direction of further study on this project.
