The experimental system of RPDTE was set up to investigate the possibility of pulse detonation-turbofan hybrid engine and its design principles and methods. After completing design and manufacture work of key structures, series of experiment were carried on the engine, the results gained are shown as below:A rotary-valved,three sector- tubes PDTE prototype was built according to the working principle of PDTE. According to the characteristic of PDE fuel injection system, the spring lamination was adopted to control the fuel injection of detonation chamber. The test results shows that :when the engine was operated in a low frequency, the turn on and turn off performance of spring lamination was good, when using the spring lamination with the thickness of 0.3mm, it was uneasy to be destroyed by detonation wave.All kinds of systems that were needed to conduct the experiment were established, such as: heater device, ignition system, fuel injection system,data collection equipment. The ignition device of afterburner of WP-6 aero-engine was used as the heater of PDTE prototype. The test results shew that: the inlet temperature of detonation tube can be controlled in the range of 473K~873K by setting different mixing air pressure. At the same time, ignition control disk was redesigned in a better way to ensure ignition signal can be sent twice during the rotary-valve rotated in a circle.Filled with heated gasoline/air mixture, multi-cycle, fully-developed detonations were obtained successfully as planned.Series of experiments were conducted to investigate the characteristic of detonation waves with different inlet parameter. The test results shew that: if the evaporation, atomization and the mixing performance of the mixture is in a good condition, the pressure performance of detonation wave will decrease while the heating temperature increasing.Also, along with the increasing of the filling speed of the mixture, the peak pressure of the detonation wave will increase at the same time.The results gained in this paper are a useful reference for further investigation of PDTE.
