With the development of expressway construction, semi-rigid asphalt pavement is gained oversee extensive research and application. Semi-rigid base is easy to produce shrinkage and low- temperature cracks under the periodically change of temperature and repeated traffic loads. And this crack is easy to extend to the surface, which is called reflection crack. The reflection crack not only affects the road appearance and drive comfort, but also greatly shortens highway service life. Therefore, it is always an important project application value to develop and research a new material which can prevent crack effectively.Using Stress Absorbing Membranes Interlayer-Rubber (SAMI-R) to control reflective crack also be studied on stage at domestic. SAMI-R is one soft sandwich of high elasticity and low stiffness, and can reduce adhesion resistance between base and surface course to reduce reflective crack. By hodlind off the end of crack, it can reduce the load of asphalt back surface.Firstly, preveting crack mechanism of SAMI-R is analysed in this article. Through changing parameters of asphalt surface and intercalation, stress on asphalt back surface is analysed. Preventing cracks effect of SAMI-R is compared with other interlayer materials'. Secondary, engineering characteristics of SAMI-R is analysed by indoor test, such as checkouting high-temperature behavior, low-temperature behavior and anti-aging performance, and each factors on effect of asphalt rubber performance effect is studied. Besides, other a few species sandwich is compared to evaluate their road performance. At last, construction technology and attention of SAMI-R by construction and observation of testing road is generalized. And economic analysis is done.The results of this paper indicate that SAMI-R not only can control reflective crack effectively, but also can inprove road performance. And its economic and social efficiency is very good. Therefore, it will be widely used in domestic expressway pavement maintenance and construction and should be popularized to resolve the question of deterioration in expressway and expressway overlays. This study has some meaning about extension and application of SAMI-R.
