Design Research Procedure In Ecological Design Of Contemporay Architecture

With sharply and rapidly deterioration to enviormental quality, serious threat to human existence and development impel the ecological consciousness to come out. With the concept of sustainable development introduced, architects set out to inquire how to solve the influence of architecture on environment and energy, explore the design forms highly adept and combined with nature.Under such background, the architectural ecological design (eco-design) arises at the histories moment. However most of the eco-designs are utilized only as design means lack of rational study and holistic consideration, induce the neglect of the close logical relation in design process that the final design form and the ecological aim is disjointed.The thesis regards architectural eco-design as research object , explores the forming process and methods using . Base on the design theory,design method and design program of eco-design, combining with Design Research methodology,"Design Research Procedure on architectural eco-design"is proposed with the collaboration of design mode and research mode , with the goal that achieve the amalgamation between design and research,sensibility and nous,project and art during the design process and promote the corresponding relation between design form and the ecological aim.The paper concludes and cardings the theory of eco-design from three aspects: thought,feature and evaluation, the thought of eco-design is divided into four parts; the paper analysis the feature of eco-design from four dimensions: time,space,behavior and technique; an evaluation criterion for eco-design is deduced reference for the LEED evaluation system for green architecture. Base on the summary on the development of modern design methods, for the existing eco-design methods, the paper points out the significance of research in eco-design methods, and then encourage the cooperation between design and research.With the study on the architectural eco-design program, the paper reveales that the recurrent framework of eco-design program which perform as a helical space mode with transition; with the emphasis on the features of eco-design, and the evolution and development of four operation modes, the operation mode of eco-design develops into eight steps correspond to five design stages: the Information absorbing stage,the Ecological factor analysising stage,the Scheme producing and optimizing stage,the Implementation phase and the Feedback stage.With the research and analysis on the theory,methods and program of architectural eco-design, the eco-design based on design research is proposed to emphasizes the mutual interaction of design and research. This paper puts forward a design mode as"Generatior—Design Experiment—Information"of eco-design ,and three research modes as"Mapping","Diagram"and"Scenario". Design mode as the sensible creativity, Research mode as the rational application on methods, the two modes intertwin and reinforce mutually, the entitative form in collaboration constitute the design research procedure. For the features of eco-design, a general design procedure as"design research procedure on architectural eco-design"is given , which with the emphasization of the ecological aim, and is the operation flow with the collaboration between design and research, such as"Generatior—Design Experiment (taget confirming,criterion corresponding,variables table establishing,variables classifying,visual model building,prediction)—Information".The"design research procedure on architectural eco-design"is discussed in the area such as holistic design, heat insulation, natural ventilation, natural daylighting, resources recycling and interior environment design. All these are considered on the basis of the ecological aim (Symbiosis, Efficient, Harmony) , in order to make people have a deeper understanding and grasping of the process of the architectural eco-design.By the case of the natural ventilation and natural daylighting in the office's building, and the heat insulation in the calssroom in elementary school,"design research procedure in architectural eco-design"is validated to implement the actual application.Above all, the final aim that the dissertation selects architectural eco-design as its research cut-in is to refresh the idea about eco-design, and direct us to innovate with sensibility and nous in the architectural eco-design process.Not only fulfill mankind's development, but also is a creation of architecture.
