Science and technology's rapid development has huge influence on engineering activity. Engineering activity's positive and negative influences have change people's view of education. Since 20th century, the reform of world higher engineering education has a common trend: reinforce humanity education in the education of engineering. In USA, the state and colleges have practiced the education reform with the characteristic of humanity education. Having recognized the gap from world higher engineering education, our country's engineering colleges began to reinforce humanity education in 1990s. Recent 10 years reform of humanity education makes some achievement, but it far from the purpose of over-all humanity quality education for engineering resources. How to practice humanity education in higher engineering education is a problem which need more endeavor.Humanity education is a necessary part in integrated engineering education. The transformation of engineering and engineer career require changing traditional engineering education which majors in professional skills, so that combine with the engineering education and humanity education.Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is the leader of American higher engineering education; Huazhong Science and technology university (HUST) is very famous for its humanity education. This thesis discusses the similarities and differences between MIT and HUST in five aspects: curriculum; teaching styles; science research; teachers and campus culture, so as to give examples and guide for our country's humanity education in engineering education.On the basis of research to MIT and HUST, the thesis brings forth some suggestion for the humanity education of our country's higher engineering education, such as transformation of universities'management and operation institution; construction of curriculum system combined humanity and science; combination humanity education with engineering professional teaching; promotion of teachers'humanity quality and teacher-student interaction; construction of versatile campus culture; reinforcement of international interaction and refreshment of the education views. Practicing humanity education in engineering education has lots of methods, and every colleges and universities should seek for suitable one on the basis of education and development law of science and technology culture.
