This paper describes the present situation in the start of the high-voltage generator and the significances of the soft start in production, analyses the mechanical properties and the impact in the power grid when the induction-motor motor starts, based on the study of the structure and the mathematical model of it, puts forward the new method of switch transformer technology applied to high-voltage generator after comparing current soft start methods.High-voltage SCR series-wound soft starter has better performance at present, which circuit directly comes from the form of low-voltage soft start circuit, but it isn't suitable for the current domestic production because of its high requirements and high price. Aimed that, this paper presents adding switching transformer devices in high-voltage SCR series-wound soft starter, makes use of smooth start-up of SCR, places SCR in low-voltage side, electrifies high-voltage to the motor through transformers and achieves motor soft start. The paper designs the main circuit and control systems of the device, which including the choice of SCR, the choices and configurations of PLC, the description of SCR drive circuit design in detail, the programming system software by the use of S7-200. Based on the analysis of the mathematical model of motors and transformers, it processes simulation experiments including the line start in non-load, the line start in load, add load after slopes voltage start in non-load in SIMULINK simulation system. The results show that the SCR high-voltage starter can get better performance in high-voltage start. Finally, the data extracted from actual example proved the advantages of switching transformer soft starting device.
