As an important part in road traffic safety system, vehicle braking capacity plays a important part in prevention and management of collisions and accidents and road traffic safety, especially under certain road surface condition. It surveyed that the road traffic accidents which is caused by vehicle take over a half of accident which is caused by inadequate braking performance, which brings traffic huge potential safety hazards. Therefore, it's an urgent task to investigate the braking performance of vehicles under special road surface conditions.Braking distance between vehicles directly reflects their braking performance. Road surface is relied on by existence of vehicle braking, and the largest braking effort is constrained by road adhesion coefficient, so road condition has important influence to exert braking performance for vehicles sufficiently. The paper has brought forwards a mathematical model of evaluating braking performance and a simulating model based on the practical process by analyzing the influencing factors of road to braking performance and adhesion performance.Vehicles whose baking efforts with fixed ratio, are chosen as subject investigated. The process of braking is divided into three parts, by analyzing the relationship of braking effort of arrester, vehicles, and adhesion effort, and then a new method of calculating braking distance is constructed, combining braking distance and coefficient of road adhesion.What is different from the common ones, the braking deceleration calculated in the paper is received by analysis of being strained in different stage. In usual methods, braking deceleration is calculated by fitting data to decide braking distance, and the connection model of braking distance and time is established. The paper analyzes vehicle direction stability while braking, and brings up a relationship model of center lateral misalignment and adhesion coefficient. On basis of establishing braking model, the paper induces a simulation system of braking distance. The simulating model has a concise window, and simulates different road braking performance easily, clearly and conveniently. Finally, the paper analyzes a car and light truck, simulates the braking distance while changing speed, pavement and other parameters, and provides data with analysis, based on braking model and simulating model.
