Virtual Instrument (VI) is a technology that users can design and define the function of the instrument depend on requirement by themselves via the general computer. It broke through the work pattern of the traditional instrument that the function can be only defined by the factory. Now, users can designed the instruments depend on their requirement. In this field, we try our best to replace the hardware by software and make the best of the function of general computer to achieve the function spread of traditional instrument.In this paper, the methods of modal patameter identification were introduced comprehensively and researched in-depth. Based on this, talked about LabVIEW's software environment and programming methods, meanwhile, a design plan LabVIEW-based virtual instruments analysis system was brought forward, a multi-channel, network virtual instrument based on LabVIEW platform were designed using in modal analysis field.This paper designed a multi-channel virtual instrument that can be used in the teaching experiment and practical projects based on LabVIEW 7.1. At first, the paper introduced some general methods of modal analysis, then, narrated the whole process of designing the instrument and the function of each of the module, at last, applied it to actual vibration experiment. The results of the experiment fit well with the one from finite method and LMS Test.Lab, the reliability and usability of the instrument were proved by the experiments.
