The concrete-filled steel is a new-style combinatorial material, it has many merits as high strength, good plastic and tenacity, the convenience of construction, cheap cost, etc and the application of it is broad in high-rise buildings and highway arch bridges, but few in water projects. There are some thing similar in support structure between flumes and bridges, so that the writer believe that it is feasible to develop a new new-style flume-the concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume by using for reference the experiences of the development of concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridges and combining the structure characteristics of flumes.The paper has the device discharge, the design tide level and the engineering geology information of a flume project of the Jiaodong water transferring project as the research background datum, combines the structure characteristics of concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridges and flumes, develop the concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume. The purpose of the paper is provide academic gist for the further development of the concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume and promote the application of the structure by analyzing the nonlinear static characteristics, stability and free vibration performance of the structure. Main ideas of this paper will expound are as follows:1) The research of concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume. The paper explores and researches the structure-type of concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume。2) The nonlinear static analyze of concrete-filled steel tubular arch flume.3) The stability analyze of flume. The paper analyzes the stability coefficient and the buckling modal of the flume in different conditions.4) The influence factors of the flume stability. The main influence factors are the stiffness of the arch ribs, the stiffness of the hangers, the arrangement form of the lateral brace and stiffness of the tie bar.5) The free vibration characteristics of the flume.
