Tsingtao, a classic modal of Chinese modern cities, is famous for the title of "Gallery of World Architecture". The historic architectures and the beautiful seaside scenery in Tsingtao have the same reputation and they form a fabulous picture of the blend of red roof, green tree, blue sea and sky. Among the various architectural styles, the most typical one is German architecture. A famous German Graphic Designer Gunter Rambow said after he visited Tsingtao "this is such a whole German style city that is hardly to be found even in Germany."This article plans to find the Objective and social reasons of the form of Tsingtao, through theoretical analyses and data conclusion of Tsingtao's Architectural Colors during the period of German occupation, in order to provide basic factors for the future city construction in Tsingtao.The thesis is divided into five parts. Introduction part introduces the process of finding the research topic as well as the meaning and research method of this topic. The first chapter mainly states the theoretical framework of Color Design in Architecture. This chapter has two sections, the first one discusses the special limitation that formed by architecture colorscape, that is The Geography of Color. The Geography of Color is the main factor of architecture. The colors of different houses are the combination of obtaining material from local sources and the local traditional colors. The second section talks about the Basic theory of Color science. The Geography of Color and Color science are all very important factors that can affect the design of architectural colors, and also are the theoretical basis of this thesis. The second chapter takes the development times of architectures in Tsingtao as the research object, and analyzing the development of architectural colors during the different history periods, including before the official settlement, the beginning period of the official settlement, the period that forcibly occupied by Germany, Japan, the period that controlled by Northern Warlord Government and Nanjing Nationalist Government and the new times under the socialism modernization construction. The third chapter is the target of the article, which analyze in details about Tsingtao's Architectural Colors during the period that forcibly occupied by Germany and the collision and blend of east and west culture brought by this. The first section discusses the historic background during the period that Tsingtao was forcibly occupied by Germany. The second section is very important, which analyzes and researches on Tsingtao's architectural colors during 1897-1914 when Germany occupied this city. It first analyzes the features of classic style, then talks about German Jugendstil' s traits, and providing many specific cases in Tsingtao. Then, this part states about the architectural colors and technics. Finally, the article use typical architecture to do the color data conclusion analyses and concluded the color that is frequently used. The third part, explains the collision and blend of two kinds of Architectural Colors culture in Tsingtao. During the collision of architecture style, Tsingtao is deeply influenced, which totally changed the visage of this city, and becoming a special one in Chinese architectures. The fourth chapter is a plan for Tsingtao's Architectural Colors.
