It is necessary to apply electronic control technology to an engine in order to economize on energy and reduce the emission pollution. The new technology, quasi-homogeneous lean burn, can give full play to the advantage of lean burn, and thus help to reduce the fuel consumption and emission of the engine. However, higher requirements are raised for the engine control system.An exact air/fuel ratio control is the foundation of a fine combustion for a lean burn engine.So many A/F control schemes and strategies are studied deeply in this paper.To satisfy the special test requirements of lean burn engine so as to acquire the best run parameters and to offer the reliable reference for the design and development of the electronic control system, a test control system has been developed ,which is based on an idea of associating virtual instrument with electronic control technology. The software programmed by LabVIEW 7.0 can acquire all kinds of parameters of the engine,and Freescale's 16-bit high performance SCM control the ignition and injection of the engine.Thus,it offers a reliable and convenient platform for performance test and NOx emission test of lean burn engine with combining the advantage of LabVIEW on data acquisition with the virtue of SCM on real-time control.The quasi-homogeneous lean burn engine air-fuel ratio control experiments and NOx emission comprehensive control experiments are carried out using self-developed measurement and control system. By the experiments results, it can be shown that the main parameters of engine running can be timely and accurately reflected in this system,and the injection timing,injection pulse width and ignition timing can be exactly controlled as required. The results also show that the electronic control test system has stable and reliable performances and can completely fulfill the requirements of the project.
