The ventilation and heat rejection calculation of the hydrogenerator is one of the most important issues of motor's design. And the result of calculation is directly related to the life period of the generator and the reliability of operation. It has been feasible to solve the issues of fields along with the development of numerical implementation and computer technology. Also ALD (analysis leading design) has been developed by the concept of coupled field. The calculation method based on traditional mathematical model and the analytical method , which solves the ventilation and heat transfer separately,are transforming to numerical calculation of multi-coupled fields. As long as the rising of the unit capacity, the calculation precision has been enhanced. Aiming at problems above, the main contents of this paper are listed as follow.1. Study the coupled field analysis method. And then based on the method and the keystone of this kind of analysis method, analyze the fluid-solid thermal coupled field in the generator.2. Study the characteristics of the turbulence model and solve the coupled field using FLUENT—a kind of CFD software. Confirm the boundary conditions and obtain the result of the simulation.The traditional calculation method has been programmed using VB. Comparing the results of the two calculation methods, and the correctness and the feasibility of the coupling method are validated.3. Study the JOURNAL language of the modeling software GAMBIT. Bring forward the method of parameterized modeling according to PLA (parameter leading analysis). And then set up the parameterized model for the ventilation simulation as an example.4. Study the relationship between parameters and target function of difference in stator's temperature of generator.The study of this paper makes a great sense to the ventilation and heat rejection of generator.
