Research Of Middle/Low-speed Maglev Gauges

Middle/low-speed maglev is a new type of urban mass transit train with stable, comfortable and quiet running performance. It can negotiate sharp curves, climb steep gradient, has high safety and is low construction cost comparing to traditional metro system. In spite of a low and/or middle transportation capacity, low-speed maglev train is still very competitive in urban mass transit system.A suitable maglev vehicle gauge must be put forward to reduce the construction cost and ensure the safety before the system could be gone into market. In recent years different research groups had developed their own testing train in China, such as Southwset Jiaotong University, National University of Defense Technology, Shanghai Maglev Traffic Co,LTD. Unfortunately these trains used different track gauge and car body width.Middle/low-speed maglev gauge is made up of vehicle gauge, equipment gauge and construction gauge. Vehicle gauge is the base of ascertaining other gauges. So vehicle gauge become the most important part of this paper. The standards can be referenced are UIC505, BOStrab of Germany, and CJJ96-2003 (Standard of metro gauges) at home. CJJ96-2003 is based on the UIC505 and BOStrab, and considered metro system application experiences for many years in China. So it is more reasonable for gauge calculation in domestic. According to this reason, this paper develop the calculation of Low-speed maglev gauge based on CJJ96-2003.Factors affecting gauge calculation of train are divided into stochastic factors and non-stochastic factors. The latter can be added up by simply algebra method, the former should be calculated by the theory of probability and mathematical statistic. The gauges charts which are got by the calculation can better reflect dynamic vehicle envelope. It is useful to reducing cost of tunnel construction, supply much space for fixing equipments.
