The planetary gear transmission is various and applied widely in mechanical equipment. It has wide involving aspects and high technology, and the process of its design and manufacture is complex. It has a direct influence on the performance, quality and service life of mechanical product. However, there are two problems in the existing small tooth number difference planetary transmission: One is the short spin arm bearing life because of spatial limit, the other is the low plug strength of output mechanism because of small diameter. So it's an important subject to resolve the above problems and improve the structure of small tooth number difference planetary transmission.The star gear planet transmission is a new transmission mode. It can effectively solve aforementioned problems. Its structure is combined with cycloid pin gear planet transmission and movable tooth gear planet transmission. The space of spin arm bearing and the diameter of plug distribution circle are increased through integrating with needle gears and plugs. This thesis mainly contains the following five aspects on star gear planet transmission: (1) Replacing the cycloid profile of inner gear ring by arc to avoid machining the complicated tooth profile curve. (2) Designing and calculating the structure of star gear planet transmission, and modeling its three-dimensional entity to make it visualized. (3) Analyzing the force of main parts before and after installing load balance ring while the needle gears are used as plugs. (4) Using the finite element method to analyze the main component parts of star gear planet transmission, and checking their strength. (5) Optimizing the structure of star gear planet transmission to reduce its volume.The thesis confirms a method to replace the cycloid profile of inner gear ring through designing and studying star gear planet transmission. It shows the effect of load balance ring by analyzing the force and strength of needle gears which are used as plugs before and after installing load balance ring. Meanwhile, it gives an optimal design way of star gear planet transmission, and provides basic theoretical approach and grounds for designing and improving the structure.
