The wheel speed sensor is one of the key components in anti-lock brake system. Its performance determines the function of ABS directly.Firstly, regarding to the widely used magnetic-electric wheel speed sensor, a testing System of wheel speed sensor in ABS is set up based on analysis of its structural characteristic and operation condition in this paper. The design and layout of the test bench, the working principle and software design of testing system are introduced. And then the characteristic experiments are carried out on the test bench. After analyzed the experiment data, the working character of magnetic-electric wheel speed sensor is studied, the influence of the signal came out of the sensor when environmental factors and the air gap between ring gear and sensor are changed is discussed. Lastly, possible fault modes of wheel speed sensor are generalized and classified, verified through experiment.The corresponding experiments show that the system is reliable, convenient, can not only detect wheel speed sensor whether it is eligible or not, but also simulate real vehicle to do some failure of wheel speed sensor research, and be used for providing reference of fault diagnosis of sensor. At the same time, it has very important meaning for the wheel speed sensor's performance analysis and diagnosis teaching and experimentation.
