The practical application of steel structures in high-rise buildings and large-span structures is ever increasing due to their superior properties, such as high strength, light weight, good earthquake resistance, fast construction, saving foundation cost, small floor area, highly industrialized production, easy recycling, etc. However, the poor fire-resistant ability is the fatal weakness of the steel structures. Therefore, the study on the fire-protection of steel structures to secure its fire resistance safety has great significance.Basing on the real project of International Stock Certification Mansion in DaLian, the study on the safety of fire resistance is developed, which aims to meet the bearing capacity of structures under fire and secure the safety and entirety of the whole structure under fire, basing on the fact that the fire resistance of primary members is appropriate. The building category of the International Stock Certification Mansion in DaLian is special grade, and the fire resistance category is the first grade. Firstly, the characteristics of steel structures and the fire perniciousness of steel structure buildings is introduced, the research on the fire design method and fire-protection method of steel structure is reviewed both nationally and internationally, the calculation method provided by each national or local existential standard in china for the fire resistance design is thoroughly expounded. Then, different fire-protection schemes are proposed towards the typical concrete-filled steel tubular columns, the steel columns and the steel beams used in International Stock Certification Mansion in DaLian. Basing on the different fire-protection schemes, the thickness of the fire resistance protection cover is calculated, analyzed and compared respectively. Finally, the optimal thickness of the fire resistance protection cover is defined to achieve the objective that the application of fire-resisting safety technology in practical building is economical and reliable to the most. .
