Spray characteristics of liquid medium is studied, with liquid rocket engine as the engineering project background. The main contents are follows:(1) A liquid spray atomization experiment is conducted by use of Particle Dynamic Analyzer (PDA). In the experiment, influence of spray pressure, nozzle diameter and spray model over atomization is systematically analyzed, and the axial and radial distributions of droplets regarding Sauter mean diameter (D32), length mean diameter (D10) and droplet speed (V) are accurately measured. Thereby the atomization laws are explored and discussed in the thesis.(2) A two-dimensional axially symmetric model of liquid spray atomization is established. And the software FLUENT is applied for numerical simulation of spray atomization, whereby axial and radial distribution of the droplet size and speed are obtained. It turns out that the numerical calculations are found to be in perfect consistency with part of the experimental result.(3) A model of the atomization of liquid propellant in a small-sized space is developed, with the software FLUENT used for numerical simulation of the atomization properties of LP1846 in a small-sized combustion chamber. Whereby characteristics of the distribution of pressure, temperature and density subject to at different time are obtained.
