The grounding grid in large-scale power plants and substations is vital to the safe operation of the power systems. How to find the faults of the grounding grid in time so that we can take state-based maintenance on the grounding grid is a problem to be studied and solved. This paper takes a research on state monitoring and fault diagnosing system of large-scale grounding grid, proposes a method based on selecting potential of down-lead in grounding grid as the monitoring signal and accomplishes the inspect and fault diagnosis system design. And the fault diagnosing method on the value of the down-lead in grounding grid was given. Finally, the simulation on the platform established using Matlab was carried out and the results show that the designed state monitoring and fault diagnosing system of large-scale grounding grid is totally of feasibility.
