About half of accident and obstacles in the electricity transmission and distribution system dues to lightning caused. With the increase of transmission lines voltage level and large-scale inter-provincial and trans-regional power transmission lines in operation, lightning trip has been the main reason of transmission line, in particular the mountainous transmission lines. The damage caused by the impact also getting more and more serious and how to reduce transmission line lightning accidents become an important topic of safe and stable operation of the power system.Based on the study of lightning discharge processes, the paper analysis the mechanism of selective lightning conducted on soil resistivity, grounding resistance, the background ions in the air, metals height on the ground and so on.In the process of analyzing counterattack lightning performance, establishing the parameters of the distribution of tower model. This model can truly reflect the lightning current in the transmission tower on the process and used as insulation intersection of flashover criterion of 110 kV transmission line as an example, and calculating counterattack tripping rate by ATP-EMTP electromagnetic transient calculation.The electrical geometric calculation model was improved fully considering the role of tower attracting lightning, and analyzing the impact of installation of lateral, vertical or horizontal lightning rod lightning rod in the tower on lightning protection performance. The result is that three kinds of lightning rod can not enhance the protection of the transmission wires of the transmission line so as to not as the main measure of mine.The mountains of electrical transmission lines geometric model was improved, calculating and analysis the safety zone distance and the danger zone distance under the different ground obliquity in the plain areas and mountain climbing terrain. Through the analysis of lightning protecting performance of high-voltage lines transmission lines in the mountains with the operating experience at home and abroad for many years, the impact of high-voltage transmission lines around the mountains shield failure, lightning counter-resistant properties of various factors conducted a comprehensive analysis and related lines of the recommendations and lightning measures for the transmission lines design reference.
