The development of vehicle industry has improved our society, while the increasing number of internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) has caused the shortage of energy and the pollution of environment. The Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) can solve these problems and will be a trend in the vehicle industry. The high power DC/DC converter which can improve the output characteristics of Fuel Cell is one of the most important components in power train, system of FCEVs. But the use of new power train system will incur more electronic and electrical components installed in the FCEV which will cause more complicated Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) problems. It is necessary that the EMC measures be carried out during the development of the DC/DC converter. At first, this paper discussed the work principle of the DC/DC converter and analyzed the electromagnetic environment under the work condition. Then, the usually used EMC measures such as shielding, filtering and grounding have been analyzed theoretically. Considering the working condition of the DC/DC converter, the materials for shielding the control unit and power unit of converter have been selected and the minimum thicknesses of these materials have been calculated. After introducing the use of Line Impedance Stabilization Networks (LISNs) and EMI receivers, the calculation of a filter's Insertion Loss (IL) has been discussed during the Conducted Emission (CE) test. Also, the grounding of power unit and control unit has been discussed and the methods for suppression of transients have been introduced. At last, in order to make an EMC test plan, the conventional onboard components test methods have been referred to because there are no EMC standards for power train components of Electric Vehicles (EVs). And the corresponding EMC tests have been carried out to confirm the EMC measures.
