The finite element method was used in this paper to analyze the segmental construction and the prestress concrete Y style rigid frame of Caiyuanba Yangtze River bridge in Chongqing which has the combined system of Y style rigid frame and bracket handle arch. The new structure style of large span road-orbit of arch and rigid frame system and the special construction method were studied and introduced. The structure of the bridge, materials and characteristic of section, boundary conditions and loads were exactly imitated. The analysis of the segmental construction had been done according to the craft and proper order of construction. The influence of shrinkage and creep during the construction and the using stage, the influence of the geometrical nonlinearity of the structure, the structure behaviors under the load combinations had been studied.Therefore, the characteristic of the special structure and computing method of large span bridge were comprehensively understood by studying the finite element method of the segmental construction of Caiyuanba Yangtze River bridge.
