| Because the structure of family in our country miniaturizes day by day, the empty-net family and the nuclear family would be the main family type. Study on the residence demand of the nuclear family could made design of the dwelling plan better. In the future, most nuclear family are constitute from one-child. The process when they growing are also exactly the time when our country population suddenly aging, the traditional retirement way and the mothering way receive the enormous challenge. So the demand of living for the first generation of only child family is not just about their own needs, but also to their parent pension, parenting consideration.This article takes the starting point by the demand of living for the first generation of only child family. On the one hand, through to carry on the example investigation and research on the way of habitation manner, the residence demand and the housing reality condition of single children who was born during 1970-80s. Analyse urban family housing characteristic which is composed of the first generation of only-child. On the other hand unifies housing product which the existing market provides to discover the insufficiency of the present housing to satisfy their demand. So we can summary the design experience of the dwelling, raises the design level, manifests the humanist design concept, enables the housing design to achieve the function to consummate, the layout to be reasonable, easy to operate, housing comfortable goal.
