Ground penetrating radar(GPR) has been widely used in highway tunnel inspection with the development of highway engineering. As an efficient and advanced non-destructive detection approach. GPR can scan the lining of tunnels successively, thus obtains objective and accurate plots.Based on the principle of GPR and the propagation characteristic of electromagnetic wave, that is the reflection with abnormality happening in different media interface, the hidden dangers leaving in the works beyond the control of the areas, which is objective reality but hardly observed in construction was analysed in this paper. The advantages of GPR were reflected. They are high efficiency, promptitude and non-destructive characteristic in detecting the concealed structure and other areasThe radar detects tunnel lining not only to monitor constrction quality, but also to provide accurate and reliable information for the hidden danger exclusion. It has great economy and society value and very broad peospects for application development. In this paper, the principle and method for quality testing of tunnel lining is introduced by using georadar. Some typical radar images about testing of tunnel linging are explined.Tunnel-lining thickness, gap and fractured bodies can be located directly on these images. This is very useful in quality testing of tunnel-linging.Which are discussed in this paper. They are the physics of the Earth model of pavement structure and the basic principles of radar nondestructive of the road . The road structure and the reflective peoperties of electromagnetic waves are analysesed furtherly. The filter system's application on the highway layer interpretation is also being analysised .They have definite guiding significance to work.
