Urban Railway Transport is one of the most effective ways to solve traffic problems in large cities. China has entered the golden age of large-scale construction of Urban Railway Transport. With the development of Urban Railway Transport, we pay more and more attention to some problems, such as improving the mobile efficiency of the passenger in urban railway transit hubs, reducing the delays and improving the environment when the passenger travelling in the Urban Railway Transit hubs or waiting in the platform. Studying the characteristic of pedestrian flow and researching the impact of pedestrian facilities on the passenger in urban railway transit hubs is the basis and the key elements for solving these problems. The study result can be used as a basis for the design and development of passenger facilities in urban railway transit hubs.Firstly, this paper reviewed the research status of pedestrian flow theory and the research results of pedestrian flow in urban railway transit hubs. It refers to the methods of studying the characteristic of pedestrian flow commonly used. This paper described the characteristic parameters of the pedestrian flow and focused on the impact factors of pedestrian flow in the second chapter.Secondly, passenger surveys in Beijing railway transit hubs were conducted to study characteristic of pedestrian flow. Passenger flow models for walkway, upward stairway and downward stairway which illustrate passenger speed/density relationships have been built using statistical method based on the collected data at different types of passenger facilities in urban railway transit hubs. The pedestrian flow characteristic by facility types are compared with that of Hong Kong's MTR and KCR.At last, the paper analyses the distribution of the passenger in the waiting area and the characteristic of pedestrian flow in the stairway of platform. A passenger distribution model based on UE theory and a characteristic of pedestrian flow model about passengers in the bottleneck of the platform is established.
