At present, although there are many experimental and theoretical studies, but the theory and design method involved are not perfect. In recent years, the study on the flow and mixing characteristics using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) research methods gradually developed. With its outstanding advantages, CFD technology has a great influence on the research, development and design of the mixing equipment in future.In this article, a blender of a slurry pond with specific request will be designed, so that it will reach the mixing requirement. At the same time, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software will be used to simulate the solid-liquid two-phase flow field and concentration field in slurry pond. Analyze the fluid flow in the tank through experiments and compare it with the simulation, so that we know how to design the blade.The main work and research results in the article include:1. Design a through neatening and summarizing the theory about blender's design.2. Using Pro / ENGINEER software to finish the 3D model of blender's impeller; using Gambit, a kind of mesh-divide software to produce non-structural mesh of the mixing flow field, and using Tgrid software unite the .Mash document together.3. The mixing flow field of monolayer-double layer, concentration field and the critical speed were simulated, and the mixing power coefficients was checked to prove the blender's design is reasonable.4. Experimental study of flow field in the agitator Tank was done; particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology was used to test the fluid speed of the slurry pond and the data obtained by the experiment were compared with the simulation data.
