Planning, designing, the option of operation mode and the setting of parameters depend on the result of simulation to a great extent. In order to evaluate the power system simulation credibility, Prony algorithm is used to extract the features of signal. Based on the analysis results of this algorithm, frequency similarity, amplitude similarity and damping similarity are put to represent characteristic error. The residual similarity is proposed to represent general error. Then the fuzzy theory is adopted to decide the weight of each similarity index in order to get the system simulation credibility. Through analyzing actual data and simulated data of the fault current of physical analog synchronous generator with sudden short-circuit in three phases, the validity of similarity indices is confirmed. At last, simplex method is used to identify the parameters in a synchronous generator model that are more sensitive, decreasing parameters error, raising simulation credibility accordingly.
