With the development of the construction of hydro-electric and the coming of the High Dam of high head, most of the locks in the west which are planning to be built and programmed has characteristic of high head. The raising of the level of water in the lock aggravate the flow turbulence, and worsen ship berthing conditions that directly not only affect the safety and the economy in the operation of the lock itself but also the security and smooth of the entire waterway. So it has an important and practical significance to take the study of lock flow for the construction projects. Previously, the lock flow mainly depend on the physical model test. It's difficult to detailed the internal eddy structure and intensity in chamber flow because of the complication of the lock flow structure and the limitation of information observed in the conventional physical model .Numerical simulation can make up for the deficiency of the physical model testing, and provide a wealth of information, and get detailed hydraulic characteristicds of full flow field, and provide scientific proof for study lock hydraulics and Engineering DesignWith international advanced turbulent compute software Fluent, and RNG k ?εturbulent model, the paper make numerical simulation for 3D flow field on yin pan lock of high head., then ,Analyze carefully computing fruits, some conclusions are got as follows:1. It is a more effective method by using the Pre-treatment software GAMBIT to build complex verge and using the hydrosphere VOF two-phase model to trace lock free surface2. The coincident of the physical model test results and numerical simulation results of the hydraulic parameters and their distribution can prove the numerical simulation effective.3. The vector distribution chart and contour chart of velocity surface fluctuation chart at different time of operation. Can be got by analyzing numerical simulation results4. Get the dissipated energy distribution chart of the cover plate energy dissipation mechanism by numerical simulation. Because the effluent slit sudden reduction and energy dissipation cover plate making flow decentralize and generation vortex, Around the exit of effluent slit and bottom of the cover plate has larger energy dissipation.5.The numerical simulation with huge amount of information and detailed description vortex flow in operation of the lock, velocity distribution and other information reflecting the characteristics of the hydraulic lock and energy dissipation process is a powerful physical model added supplement.
