The Gravity Dam is one kind of Hydraulic Structures that can resist the press of water using the deadweight's friction of dam. The building history of dam is centuries-old. In china, people began to build dams before 250 B.c. and the career of constructing dams has a great development in this years. The amount of building dams in china occupies over half world's quantity. Our country is the advanced city either the height of dams or the degree of technical complexity. People have realized the importance of dams' safety very early. Designing on stability against sliding of foundation in gravity dams attracts the much attention.The geological condition of dams has become more and more complex with the development of construction. At present, the methods of dams safety analysis are limit equilibrium method, finite element method, partial coefficient method, etc. Although those methods can slove the problems of many projects, they couldn't perfectly deal with the matters of complex dams's foundation. According to these actual problems, this paper researches the safety of dams on several complex groundworks and study the problem of searching sliding surface.The first section of this thesis presents the simple measure of safety analysis on step foundation based on the concept-"general wencker ground", and then designs the compiler languages making use of the aforesaid theory to calculate the safety factor. This programme can educe safety factors of every sliding surface and the whole dam. Secondly, to ravel the status of dams built on the foundation containing soft interlayer or joint fissure , based on the software of MATLAB and the theory of optimize, this article give programmes to figure out the most possible sliding faces building on the complex groundworks. At the same time, some conclusions obtained from this paper can help the future's investigation. Thirdly, grounding on the limit equilibrium method's deduction, this study discusses the connection of several variables when the dam is in the limit equilibrium state built on the especial foundations. Then the paper compares the results of the programmme. Fourthly, the tractate gives a trial of calculating the safety factor taking into account the resistance coming from lateral rocks when the dam is in the limit equilibrium state. The trial manages the theoretics of graphics.Finally, the author summarizes this article . At the mean while this paper indicates the problems to be solved and researched in further's study of this field.
