Water erosion caused by railway construction not only destroys engineering body, but also harms eco-environment. It is indispensable to research laws of water erosion and prediction methods in order to control water erosion. Based on pioneer research works on laws and prediction methods, a few problems as follow on laws and prediction methods in railway engineering construction sites are studied by taking Wangwan Railway in Harbin as research areas.1. Researches on water erosion in construction sites are reviewed: Based on the review of researches on water erosion, the achievements on the relation between engineering construction and water erosion and prediction of water erosion in construction sites are summarized and discussed. And taking account of the characteristics and forms of water erosion in the railway engineering, the research contents and methods are put forward.2. Study on water erosion in construction periods by precipitation tests: Firstly, based on the results of experiments, the paper analyzes soil and water loss intensity of railway road in Northeastern China and proposes a way to predict soil and water loss intensity of roadbed engineering in construction. Furthermore, weather condition and soil particularity on water erosion are analyzed.3. Study of prediction ways of water erosion for railway roadbed: Firstly, several pieces of advice about predicting water erosion along railway are proposed. Then, based on precipitation experiment on Wangwan railway in Harbin, an empirical equation to predict water erosion on the embankment slope is given.
