With the development of science and technology, modern pneumatic technology with the advantages of low-cost, non-pollution, safety, high reliability and long service life is also developing rapidly, and compared with other transmission technologies,shows more advantages. Furthermore, for the superiority of fireproof , explosion-proof, good safety and non-pollution , the range of application of pneumatic transmission in industrial field is widening everyday.But to meet the need of automatization,through innovation of many years, lots of mew products have come out, supplying users bigger application space,and some ditional control methods such as mechanical control, hydraulic contral,and electrical control have been substituted by it. It can be predicted that pneumatic technology will obtain more development and will be applied more widely.This paper, firstly , introduces the characteristics and application of pneumatic technology, present research situation of reliability technology at home and abroad ,and its development tendency. fault tree analysis method is stated , and by this method failure mechanism and failure mode of pneumatic component are analyzed, three failure modes of pneumatic solenoid valve and the effect of o-ring to three failure modes are obtained. based on the requirement of pneumatic component reliability experiment, timing-ending service life experiment and its experiment circuit of pneumatic solenoid valve are designed, measurement methods is determined, test bench of reliability test is built, experimental data is measured. In addition,through this pneumatic component reliability experiment, this paper also introduces the distribution pattern and analysis method of reliability experiment data., and analyses the experiment data through Weibull distribution. Experiment results are analyzed, failure reasons of pneumatic solenoid valve is found out.
