Energy shortage situation is becoming more and more serious in the current world, the development of iron and steel enterprises is limited by the resource and environment. Therefore, how to use blast furnace gas, coke-oven gas, converter gas efficiently and reduce environmental pollution has been concerned widely by iron and steel enterprises. Constructing and retrofitting boiler to combust the by-product gas to generate steam is a important way to reclaim and save the energy.Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. Ltd's 40 t/h boiler heating surface has been optimized based on the analysis of coal-fired boiler and gas-fired boiler's different characteristics and heat transfer technology. At the same time, combustion mode and measures of stable combustion are analyzed and discussed, for the flameless combustion technology characters such as combustion speed, high-temperature, combusting completely and the stability of combustion, easy to operate, with the different combustion characteristics of blast furnace gas, coke-oven gas, converter gas and the actual needs of Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. Ltd's gas balance, a suitable combustion device is designed to improve boiler's thermal efficiency, recovery efficient of by-product gas, and reducing gas emission.In addition, the boiler thermal efficiency and economic benefits are calculated based on the boiler performance test, and make a scientific evaluation to the effects of the implementation .In this paper, it concludes that the two by-products of burning gas have been effectively used through 40 t/h boiler's retrofit in Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. Ltd , not only reclaims by-product gas and reduces the scale of energy consumption and the environmental pollution, but also provides a new way of comprehensive utilization of energy.
