Its working status is critical for the stability and safe operation of the locomotives. We design a new type of "power-looping testing device" for the auxiliary conveitors of 8K-type locomotive which can safe electric power in a considerable degree. It is full fill the summon of saving energy by our country.It requires that the testing device to simulate the working status on locomotive in the laboratory. We improve the solid state controlling system when design the new testing device and make it rather perfect to simulate the working status on locomotives.We integrate the control of rectifier and inverter in one DSP (Digital Signal Processor) control panel. Phase-controlled rectifier technique is adopted to control the rectifier. We introduce the principles of Phase-controlled rectifier briefly, compile corresponding software and show the results and waveform of our experiments. As for the control of the inverter, we supply two control strategies. Strategy 1: Keep the original control principles of the inverter unchanged. The inverter operates in 6-step voltage mode and starts up the same as the original mode. Strategy 2: Adopt SPWM strategy to improve the operating principles of the inverter thoroughly.The paper illustrates the main circuit of the convertor system of the new testing device. We redesign the drive circuit for IGBT device. Replace the drive system composed by 750 and 751 borad by a new circuit which contains modules like "function alternative module" which can generate deadzone automaticly, and results show that design of the new drive circuit is in reason.The digital control system for locomotive convertors opens the door for the work in the future. Today, researches on auxiliary convertors of DJ1-type locomotive is going on. And it will make use of the control strategy of SPWM and VWF to the IGBT inverter with DSP mentioned in this thesis.
